Sunny Underwood (she/her) M.S. MFT, CCTP

Sunny is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified trauma professional. She is licensed in the states of TN and WA. Sunny is a queer person who is very passionate about providing therapy to queer, gender nonconforming, and transgender individuals. She utilizes a trauma-focused, client-centered approach to work with those with a history of trauma (PTSD/CPTSD), anxiety, depression, disordered eating, ADHD/Autism, and relationship difficulties such as family and/or intimate partner dynamics. Sunny can provide therapy to those who have been harmed by toxic religion and have a desire to deconstruct/reconstruct their current or past practice(s). She is also comfortable processing issues of system oppression and racism. Sunny is informed in ethical kink and polyamory. She employs a HAES (Health at Every Size) lens in her approach and cares deeply about the impact of systemic oppression on all marginalized bodies.

Her desire is to create a space of acceptance, where you are able to put forward the most vulnerable parts of yourself to heal the wounds of the past and present. Sunny does this by helping her clients utilize language to understand their symptoms, validate their experiences, and provide room for their most authentic selves. Her main objective is to create a safe space for you to come and connect with yourself so that you are more able to obtain healing and make meaningful connections with others.

The most important part of therapy is the relationship that exists between the client and their therapist. Healing happens when we feel deeply safe and accepted. You deserve that, and Sunny hopes you find that here and in any place and or relationship you reside in.
